Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 March 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information TechnoBabu (“we”, “us”, technobabu.com) collects when you visit this website, how it is used, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language.

Who is responsible for your data

TechnoBabu is operated by Anurag Sinha from India. For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, TechnoBabu is the “data controller” for personal data collected through this website — meaning we decide why and how it is processed. You can reach us about any privacy matter at contact@technobabu.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you leave a comment, we collect the name and email address you enter, the comment text, and your IP address (WordPress records this automatically to help fight spam). Your email address is never displayed publicly. When you email us at contact@technobabu.com, we receive your email address and whatever you write.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, our server keeps standard access logs: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting and are routinely rotated and deleted.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use them in three ways:

  • Functional cookies — WordPress sets a cookie if you leave a comment so the form remembers your details. You can decline this in the comment form.
  • Analytics — if analytics is enabled, it collects anonymised usage statistics (which pages are popular, roughly where visitors are from). We do not use this to identify individuals.
  • Advertising cookies — see the advertising section below.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

TechnoBabu displays advertising served by Google AdSense to keep our content free.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of many third-party vendors’ cookies at www.aboutads.info.

For more detail on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Consent for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before any advertising or analytics cookies are set, through a consent banner that appears on your first visit. Until you make a choice, Google operates in a restricted mode that does not store advertising cookies or use them for personalisation (Google Consent Mode). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” / “Manage consent” link in the site footer. We work with a Google-certified consent management platform to record these choices in line with the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework, as Google requires for publishers serving European traffic.

Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for advertising and analytics cookies, and for storing your comment details. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for keeping the site secure, preventing spam and abuse, and maintaining short-lived server logs. We balance these interests against your rights.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law.

How we use information

  • To display and moderate comments
  • To respond when you contact us
  • To keep the site secure and fight spam
  • To understand which content is useful so we can write more of it

We do not sell your personal information. We do not send marketing email (we don’t even have a newsletter yet).

Your rights

Depending on where you live — under the EU/UK GDPR, India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and similar laws — you have some or all of the following rights over the personal data we hold about you (typically just your comments and any emails you have sent us):

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — ask us to correct data that is wrong or out of date.
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Restriction and objection — ask us to limit how we use your data, or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Portability — receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw any consent you gave (for example, advertising cookies) at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
  • Non-discrimination (CCPA) — we will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising in the CCPA sense.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@technobabu.com. We will respond within 30 days. You will not be charged for a reasonable request. If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we have not handled your data properly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, though we’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.

International data transfers

This website is hosted in India, so if you visit from the EEA, UK or elsewhere, your data is transferred to and processed in India. Our advertising and analytics partners (such as Google) may also process data on servers outside your country. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Google describes its own transfer safeguards in its Privacy Policy.

Data retention and security

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected:

  • Comments — retained for as long as the article exists, so the discussion stays useful; deleted on request.
  • Contact emails — kept while we deal with your query and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted.
  • Server access logs — kept for a short rolling window (typically up to 14 days) for security and troubleshooting, then automatically rotated and deleted.
  • Cookie lifetimes — advertising and analytics cookies expire according to the schedules set by Google; functional comment cookies last until they expire or you clear them.

The site is served exclusively over HTTPS, and we apply standard security measures to protect the limited data we hold. No method of transmission over the internet is ever completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the “last updated” date at the top changes too. Material changes will be noted prominently on the site.
