This Privacy Policy explains what information TechnoBabu (“we”, “us”, technobabu.com) collects when you visit this website, how it is used, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language.

The short version

You can read every article here without giving us anything. We have no accounts, no newsletter and no tracking pixels of our own. The site handles only comment data and messages sent to the contact address. The production host keeps standard access logs for security and debugging. If ads appear on this site, Google may set advertising cookies or use related identifiers to select, measure and protect advertising. You can switch personalised advertising off from the cookie banner or the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, and if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal the code acts on it automatically.

Who is responsible for your data

TechnoBabu is operated by Anurag Sinha from India. For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, TechnoBabu is the “data controller” for personal data collected through this website — meaning we decide why and how it is processed. support@technobabu.com is the privacy-contact route.

This is a one-person publication, so there is no separate privacy team or data protection officer. Privacy requests go through the listed address and are handled by the site owner.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you leave a comment, we collect the name and email address you enter, the comment text, and your IP address (WordPress records this automatically to help fight spam). Your email address is never displayed publicly. If you write to support@technobabu.com, the address and whatever you write are processed to handle the query.

The name on a comment can be a pseudonym; nothing checks it. A real email address only matters if you want a reply.

Information collected automatically

The production host keeps standard access logs (IP address, user agent, request path, timestamp) for security monitoring and debugging. Logs are rotated and retained for a limited period.

Standard server-side rate limiting and request filtering are in place to protect the site from abuse.

What we do not collect

We do not use web beacons, pixel tags or similar tracking technologies of our own. If an enabled third-party advertising service uses one, it is covered by that vendor’s policy and the conditional advertising statement below.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. Cookies on this site fall into three categories:

Functional cookies and storage — WordPress sets a cookie if you leave a comment so the form remembers your details. You can decline this in the comment form. The visitor-choice banner saves your separate cookie and terms selections in tb_visit_choices. The first-party advertising choice is also stored in tb_consent. Both records stay in this browser for up to 12 months and are not sent to our server; the regional Google consent record is managed separately by Google.
Analytics — we do not currently run any analytics package on this site, and there is no Google Analytics property attached to it. If that ever changes, this policy will name the tool and say what it collects before it is switched on.
Advertising cookies — see the advertising section below.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, and you can browse this site with third-party cookies blocked entirely — articles, navigation and comments all work without them. If ads appear, blocking cookies may affect whether they are personalised; it does not itself establish whether ads are being served.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

If ads appear on this site, they are served through Google AdSense.

If ads appear, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies, local storage, web beacons or similar technologies, plus IP addresses and browser/device identifiers, to serve, measure, limit and protect advertising. Google and its advertising partners may receive or share those signals as described in Google’s partner-services disclosure; the exact vendors and purposes depend on the advertising configuration that the owner enables.
If personalised advertising is enabled, Google’s use of advertising cookies and related identifiers may use visits to this site and/or other sites for advertising selection, measurement, frequency capping, fraud prevention and reporting. If ads appear, the applicable Google and other vendor disclosures govern the data they collect and share.
You may manage personalised Google advertising through Google My Ad Center, and opt out of personalised ads from many other vendors through the Digital Advertising Alliance’s WebChoices tool. Browser settings can block or delete third-party cookies, but controls for non-Google vendors vary by browser and vendor.

If ads appear, Google’s systems may fill them automatically; we do not choose, review or approve individual ads. We do not place manual ad units inside command blocks or disguise them as download buttons. Automated placements still need review on desktop and mobile; report an intrusive or misleading ad with the page URL and time.

The first-party cookie banner is not a location tool. Until Google Funding Choices successfully reports an explicit gdprApplies result, the site keeps advertising and analytics consent denied and pauses ad requests. Non-personalised advertising can still use cookies, so it is not used as a substitute for consent. When it reports gdprApplies === true, Google Funding Choices and its Consent Mode result govern the EEA, UK or Switzerland choice; this site does not replace that result with its first-party denied/non-personalised fallback. When the confirmed gdprApplies === false state is available, Accept records an explicit choice to enable personalised advertising and Reject keeps ad requests paused. Google may still use cookies for non-personalised ads, for things such as frequency capping and fraud prevention.

A first-visit popup offers separate, unchecked choices for optional advertising cookies and the Terms and Conditions. Accept selected saves only your selections; Decline or Escape records both as declined. You may continue reading either way and reopen it using Privacy & terms choices in the footer. A regional Google consent message, where applicable, remains responsible for its advertising permissions. Your cookie and terms choices are saved only in this browser for up to 12 months. Your first-party answer is kept in your browser for 12 months and then we ask again when the same confirmed state is available. It is not sent to our server. You can use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer to reopen the applicable control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the source keeps personalised advertising off and does not offer the first-party choice. If a consent control is unavailable, ad requests stay paused until a usable choice is available. The privacy contact below is available for questions about your choices.

Consent for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

For visitors in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, the theme can load the optional Google Funding Choices integration before applying advertising choices. Whether a live account-side message is configured, published, certified or active is owner-only information and is not asserted here. When the integration reports a valid regional result, its consent state governs that region; otherwise the theme keeps advertising signals denied and ad requests paused. The first-party advertising control becomes available only after an explicit non-EEA result. The separate visitor-choice banner can appear in any region; accepting it does not override the regional Google consent result, and declining it keeps ad requests paused. The footer’s “Cookie settings” control attempts to reopen the applicable UI and falls back to this policy’s rights section if the external UI is unavailable.

Because the consent record belongs to Google’s platform rather than to us, we never see your individual choice — only its effect on how ads are served. Declining does not reduce what you can read: no article, section or feature of this site is gated behind accepting advertising cookies.

Global Privacy Control

We honour the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or a privacy extension sends it, this site withholds consent for advertising storage and ad personalisation before any ad code runs — automatically, on every request, in every region, whether or not the law where you live requires it. You do not have to find a setting or click a banner for this to take effect.

We read the signal both from the request header your browser sends and from the corresponding browser property, so it works whichever way your browser or extension expresses it.

Who else processes data from this site

The list is deliberately short:

Google — if ads appear, Google may provide advertising and the optional consent integration may communicate consent signals. See Google’s Privacy Policy and the Google partner-services disclosure.
Production hosting — the hosting provider may process IP address, user agent, request path and timestamp in access logs for security and operation. This site is hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in ap-south-1, Mumbai, India. Server access logs are retained for seven days.
Email provider — Amazon Web Services (AWS) email services process messages sent to support@technobabu.com so the owner can respond. Contact emails are retained for seven days; use that address to request deletion.

We do not share comment or email data with anyone beyond this, and we never sell it. We would disclose data only where we are legally required to, or where it is genuinely necessary to investigate abuse of the site.

Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for advertising and analytics cookies, and for storing your comment details. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for keeping the site secure, preventing spam and abuse, and maintaining short-lived server logs. We balance these interests against your rights.
Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law.

How we use information

To keep the site secure and fight spam
To understand which content is useful so we can write more of it

We do not sell your personal information. We do not send marketing email (we don’t even have a newsletter yet).

We also do not use your data to build a profile of you, to make automated decisions about you, or for any purpose unrelated to running this website.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — under the EU/UK GDPR, India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and similar laws — you have some or all of the following rights over the personal data we hold about you (typically just your comments and any emails you have sent us):

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification — ask us to correct data that is wrong or out of date.
Erasure — ask us to delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
Restriction and objection — ask us to limit how we use your data, or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Portability — receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
Withdraw consent — withdraw any consent you gave (for example, advertising cookies) at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
Non-discrimination (CCPA) — we will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights.
Opt out of sale/sharing (CCPA/CPRA) — we do not sell personal information for money. However, when personalised advertising is enabled, Google may use advertising cookies in a way that counts as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CPRA. You can opt out in any of three ways, and you do not need to contact us for any of them. First, we honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser or extension sends it, this site automatically withholds consent for advertising storage and ad personalisation on every request, in every region, before any ad loads — no click required. Second, you can turn off ad personalisation directly at Google’s My Ad Center. Third, the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer opens our cookie banner, where Reject switches personalised ads off (in Europe it opens Google’s consent message instead). A first-party Reject choice pauses ad requests. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, the regional message explains which advertising purposes you allow; its consent record governs the result.

To exercise any of these rights, write to support@technobabu.com. You will not be charged for a reasonable request. If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we have not handled your data properly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority; this page is general information, not legal advice.

In practice most requests are simple, because there is so little to hold: deleting a comment, or deleting an email thread. We may ask you to confirm something only you would know about the data — for example which comment is yours — so that we do not delete or hand over one person’s data to another.

Do Not Track

Browsers’ older “Do Not Track” header was never agreed on by the industry and most sites ignore it. Rather than claim to honour something with no settled meaning, we act on the Global Privacy Control signal described above, which does have one and is recognised under California law.

International data transfers

Our AWS hosting region is ap-south-1 (Mumbai, India). AWS email services handle contact messages; supporting service operations may involve processing in other locations under AWS service terms. If Google or another advertising vendor processes data, the applicable safeguards are described in that vendor’s privacy policy, including Google’s Privacy Policy.

Data retention and security

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected:

Comments — retained for as long as the article exists so the discussion stays useful, subject to the site’s moderation and deletion process.
Contact emails — retained for seven days, then deleted.
Server access logs — retained for seven days, then deleted.
Cookie lifetimes — advertising and related technologies, if enabled, use schedules set by Google or another vendor; functional comment cookies last until they expire or you clear them; your first-party consent answer is kept for 12 months.

The site is served over HTTPS with a valid TLS certificate. HTTP requests are redirected to HTTPS. Standard WordPress hardening and access restrictions are in place.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data we hold.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

If you believe a child has sent us personal data or left it in a comment, write to support@technobabu.com to request review and deletion.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the “last updated” date at the top changes too. Material changes will be noted prominently on the site.
